Students & Parents: Don’t miss Jason Howell’s video reviews of Quizlet, My Study Life & PhotoMath!

Android-app-arena-episode-59Jason Howell is one of the many smart & talented podcasters on Leo Laporte’s TWiT (This Week in Tech) network. And while his weekly “Android App Arena” podcast ostensibly focuses on Android apps, each of his recent “Back to School” selections is also available in the iTunes store for use with iOS devices such as iPads, iPhones, etc.  Jason does a great job of quickly highlighting Quizlet, My Study Life, and PhotoMath so you can see how they can help studying be more fun and effective for you or your kids.

Below are the thumbnail descriptions of each app Jason reviews on this podcast, as provided in the Google Play store (iTunes also provides similar descriptions for the Apple versions of these apps):

  • Quizlet makes simple tools that let you study anything, anywhere. Download the FREE app to…study on the go… play games to study… create your own flashcards (or search millions created by others)… improve your study habits… study with images and audio, great for all learning styles…”
  • “My Study Life is a cross-platform planner for students, teachers and lecturers designed to make your study life easier to manage. My Study Life allows you to store your classes, homework and exams in the cloud making it available on any device, wherever you are…”
“PhotoMath is the world’s smartest camera calculator! Just point your camera to a Math problem, and PhotoMath will instantly display the answer…”

Check out Jason’s brief, to-the-point video review for highlights of each. (Personal Note: Based on Jason’s recommendation, I’ve started using Quizlet and some pre-made flash cards, uploaded by teachers, to study Climate Change. It’s VERY cool and fun!)
